Proline is an amino acid involved in the production of normal collagen and cartilage.
- 500mg L-Proline
- Vegetable cellulose capsule
- No additives, binders or fillers
Proline is required for the development and maintenance of normal, healthy skin and connective tissues, especially at the site of traumatic tissue injury.
Together with L-Lysine, L-Proline is instrumental in the production of collagen, which helps heal cartilage and to cushion the joints and vertebrae. Ensuring adequate proline consumption may therefore be sensible, if you suffer from osteoarthritis, persistent soft tissue strains, or chronic back pain.
Endurance athletes require sufficient proline in order to avoid loosing muscle mass.
If recovering from traumatic injury, particularly skin injuries such as severe burns, you may choose to supplement with L-Proline. People with pain caused by insufficient cartilage or collagen formation could benefit from extra proline in their diet as well.
Proline is sometimes recommended in combination with Lysine for herpes sufferers and is often incorporated in supplements with vitamin C to support cardiovascular health.
The recommended dose is between 500 milligrams and 1,000 milligrams daily, in combination with vitamin C.
People with liver or kidney disease should not take this or any other amino acid supplement without first consulting their physician.
